Yamaha Electronics Corporation, a home theater and digital audio and video reproduction company, has introduced the RX-V667 3D AV receiver (90W x 7; MSRP $599.95), the BD-S667 Blu-ray player (MSRP $329.95) and YID-W10 yAired wireless iPod/iPhone dock (MSRP $149.95), a core for a next generation home theater system. For 3D broadcast and Blu-ray content, the RX-V667 provides 3D and Audio Return Channel support over HDMI 1.4a (6 ins/ 1 out), and support for 7-channel HD Audio or 5-channel plus height presence speaker playback via the company's proprietary CINEMA DSP 3D technology. The receiver's Virtual Presence Speaker option also delivers sonic dimension and height to front channel audio to systems without front presence speakers.

The RX-V667 is designed to enable music and movie enthusiasts to connect their Blu-ray players, broadcast HD services and gaming consoles, as well as the latest 3D television offerings. The RX-V667 provides full HD Audio decoding (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, as well as Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio) and analog-to-HDMI 1080p video upscaling with deinterlacing for non-HD sources.
Other features include a multi-lingual onscreen GUI that can overlay HD and 3D content to display information and album art. Four pre-set SCENE modes ("BD/DVD," "TV," "CD" and "Radio"), fully compatible with Yamaha's new BD-S667, ready the entire system to deliver the desired entertainment experience by turning on the correct components and activating the proper inputs, audio and video features and surround mode combinations.
The RX-V667 gives users access to a range of today's popular content sources, including wireless iPod/iPhone playback via Yamaha's new optional YID-W10 Wireless Dock System. The dock enables users to listen to these portable devices through a Yamaha home theater system while keeping them in their hands to find their favorite songs, videos and games. The YID-W10 integrates Yamaha's proprietary yAired wireless technology that enables users to watch video or play games with high quality lossless audio via iPhones without lip sync or A/V matching problems. iPod/iPhone song title information is displayed on the front panel of the RX-V667, as well as on the home entertainment system's on-screen display.

Users can change between any of the six HDMI inputs
in the receiver's Standby Through mode. Adaptive Dynamic Range Control
automatically increases the volume of softer dialog passages when
overall system volume is turned down, and Adaptive DSP level adjusts the DSP level control based on the master volume level setting.
YPAO automatic system calibration makes system adjustments to match the room in which the system is placed. HDMI CEC functionality allows any components connected via HDMI to
be operated by a single remote control. Sound quality is also provided
by the model's discrete amp configuration, Pure Direct for HD Audio and
Video, as well as low jitter PLL circuitry.
The model also offers Deep Color (30/36 bit) technology, x.v.Color,
24Hz Refresh Rates, audio input assign capability for HDMI and
component video inputs and Auto Lip-Sync compensation, which
compensates for audio/video sync issues. Compressed Music Enhancer
enhances dynamics for music files ripped from CDs or downloaded from
the Internet.
The RX-V667 offers system versatility with Yamaha's IntelliAmp
technology that enables users to assign amplifiers for bi-amp
configuration, surround back, front presence or Zone 2 connection. The
receiver also provides SIRIUS
Satellite Radio compatibility and support playback from iPod/iPhone
(audio and video) and Bluetooth-enabled devices (audio) via optional
wired dock accessories, the Yamaha YDS-12 (MSRP: $99.95) and YBA-10 (MSRP: $129.95), respectively.
The model delivers source connectivity and convenience features for
HD video and audio performance, 3D support for the Side-by-Side (Half)
and Top-and-Bottom formats that broadcasters are adopting, as well as
for current 3D Blu-ray content.
The Yamaha BD-S667 is a match to the RX-V667 in terms of
functionality, cosmetics and build construction. It is fully compatible
with the receiver's SCENE mode for set up and operation and offers 1080p/24kHz-compatible HDMI video
output, full HD Audio decoding and playback of all current HD formats.
Support for BD-Live and BonusView features unlock features from the
Internet and new entertainment possibilities via selectable internal
memory and USB storage devices.
The BD-S667 is also compatible with Netflix for streaming of the
service's library of movie, TV and special event titles. It has
multimedia compatibility for Disc and USB formats including AVCHD, WMV, JPEG (HD), MP3 and WMA. It can also playback JPEG slideshows with MP3 audio soundtracks. Other audio and video features include direct bitstream and multi-channel Linear PCM output via HDMI and analog 2-channnel down-mixed audio output, 192kHz/24-bit audio DAC, x.v.Color and Deep Color compatibility, as well as 1080p playback for DVDs, photos and home movies.
Other operation and convenience features include DLNA client certification, HDMI CEC functionality and on-screen display GUI.
A Setup Wizard readies the BD-S667 for operation, and Internet
connectivity makes it possible to download future firmware updates.
