If you’re into vinyl but don’t want the traditional, bulky turntable setup, Gadhouse’s Cosmo Solar Edition might catch your eye—literally. The Cosmo Solar Edition is the latest version of the brand’s compact, portable turntable, and it leans hard into late-90s nostalgia with a translucent, colorful design. But it’s not just about looks—this $199 turntable comes loaded with built-in speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, FM radio, and even a way to record your vinyl to USB.
It’s not necessarily built for audiophiles chasing perfect sound, but if you’re looking for a fun, budget-friendly way to play records (and stream music, and listen to the radio, and more), it might just be worth a look.
The Cosmo Solar Edition is clearly inspired by the days when tech came in bright, see-through plastic. If you remember colorful Game Boys and translucent iBooks, you’ll probably get a kick out of the three new colors:
These add to the existing Lucid White version, giving buyers even more ways to match their turntable to their space.
“Cosmo’s Solar Edition elevates both aesthetics and performance, creating a deeper connection to the music you love,” says Petch Teosuwan, co-founder at Gadhouse.
Gadhouse designed the Cosmo Solar Edition for casual listeners and vinyl beginners, so it’s pretty simple to use. You get 33 1/3 and 45 RPM playback speeds, along with an auto start/stop function to help prevent unnecessary wear on your records.
It comes with a moving magnet (MM) cartridge, which is common in entry-level turntables, and there’s even pitch control if you want to tweak the playback speed. A DJ mode allows for continuous playback, meaning your record won’t just stop abruptly at the end of a side.
Beyond vinyl, this turntable offers multiple ways to play music:
You also get multiple headphone jacks (3.5mm and 6.35mm) and RCA outputs, so you can hook it up to external speakers or a more powerful sound system.
If you’re serious about high-end sound, this probably isn’t the turntable for you. Built-in speakers and an all-in-one design can cause unwanted vibrations that impact sound quality, which is why audiophiles usually prefer separate components.
But for casual listeners, younger vinyl fans, or anyone who just wants a fun, portable record player, the Cosmo Solar Edition makes sense. It’s compact, affordable, and packed with features that go beyond vinyl playback.
The Gadhouse Cosmo Solar Edition is available now for $199 in the U.S. and £199 in the U.K. through the Gadhouse website.
