However, it comes equipped with an array of features that make it perfectly suited to driving custom multi-room setups. There are eight independent zones you can use to send music to different rooms. Front panel indicators let you see which zones are on or off, and alert you to any short circuits. Each zone has its own independent volume control, and the zones can be triggered independently (meaning the zone only turns on when a source comes through it specifically) or globally (meaning the zone turns on when any source comes through the amp). When used with a multi-room preamp or matrix processor, each zone can independently handle one of the multiple sources tied into their respective line inputs. Clean amplification OSD uses Class D amplification in the MX1680, and for good reason: this type of amp is highly efficient and can drive lower impedance loads no problem. That means the amplifier runs cool even if you're pushing it as hard as it can go. Speaking of which, the amp has built-in safeguard circuitry that protects it from overload and short circuits. Each amplifier zone can be bridged by using its stereo/bridge switch. That'll combine the power of two channels into a single more powerful mono channel - great for feeding power-hungry speakers.
