Premium German AV brand Loewe, known for its longstanding history of innovation, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. To mark this significant milestone, the company has unveiled its latest product that blends the old with the new – the Loewe multi.room amp.

The Loewe multi.room amp is the company's first foray into the streaming amplifier market, and it presents more than just a powerful audio device. It's an innovative solution designed to transform conventional hi-fi systems and home cinema speaker setups into smart, streaming, multi-room sound systems. 

This compatibility with various streaming platforms, including Apple AirPlay, Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and DTS Play-Fi, allows users to effortlessly stream content wirelessly from mobile devices.

Under the hood, the multi.room boasts a robust 1200 watts of Class D amplification. This power is capable of delivering "natural, powerful audio" from a myriad of sources such as CD players, turntables, and digital inputs. Its impressive range of interfaces includes RCA and USB inputs, HDMI ARC with Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) support, and even dual network jacks for LAN integration. The amp's frequency range spans 20-20,000 Hertz, which should ensure a rich and immersive audio experience.

The unit's design reflects Loewe's typical dedication to aesthetics and functionality. Its minimalist black chassis, adorned with a simple control panel reminiscent of the iconic iPod wheel, underlines its elegance. Despite its compact size (27 x 8 x 27 cm), the Loewe multi.room amp is a powerhouse capable of fitting into 19-inch kit racks, making it a versatile addition to any audio setup.

One of the multi.room's standout features is its ability to serve as a bridge between traditional analog passive speakers and modern smart-home systems. Through gold-plated banana plugs, the amplifier connects to passive speakers, while active speakers and subwoofers can be linked via RCA preamp outputs. 

The amp also supports wireless pairing with rear and front multi-channel speakers, expanding its capabilities into a full home cinema system.

Moreover, the amplifier is equipped with the latest in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology, alongside Loewe's own Multichannel Home Cinema with Loewe Wireless Digital Audiolink system. This versatility allows it to bring 'offline' speakers into the contemporary realm of multi-room audio, making it a unique solution for audiophiles looking to blend the old with the new.

The Loewe multi.room amplifier, priced at £999 (approximately $1250), is set to hit the shelves this month.
