Cyrus Audio, a renowned name in the British hi-fi industry, has launched its new 40 Series range of audio equipment. With 40 years of experience behind them, the company has designed this series with a forward-thinking approach, emphasizing advanced technology and modern design.
The initial lineup includes an integrated amplifier (40 AMP), a network streamer (40 ST), a CD player (40 CD), and an external power supply (40 PSU). An additional phono preamplifier is expected to be released in 2025.
The 40 AMP is designed to be the centerpiece of the 40 Series system, providing 100 watts per channel into 6 ohms. This power is more than sufficient to drive a wide range of loudspeakers, making the amplifier suitable for various room sizes and acoustic settings.
The 40 AMP is housed in an anodized aluminum chassis, maintaining the signature half-width design of Cyrus products. It features a 5-inch color TFT display for navigating inputs and settings.
Inside, the amplifier is equipped with the ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M chipset and HyperStream IV Dual DAC technology. This advanced digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is known for providing high-quality sound reproduction, offering clarity and accuracy that are vital for audiophiles. The 40 AMP also boasts multiple digital and analog inputs, including an HDMI eARC connection, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with a home theater system.
One key feature is the low-noise moving magnet (MM) phono stage. This component, adapted from Cyrus’s Classic PHONO, is designed to offer high dynamic range and minimal background noise, making it ideal for those who enjoy listening to vinyl records.
Streaming has become an essential part of modern audio setups, and the Cyrus 40 ST aims to cater to that demand. Powered by the popular BluOS platform, the 40 ST supports high-resolution streaming up to 24-bit/192kHz.
It is compatible with over 20 streaming services, including Tidal, Spotify, and Amazon Music, and can access thousands of internet radio stations. For audiophiles with a local music library, the 40 ST allows music playback from network-attached storage (NAS) devices.
The 40 ST streamer is controlled primarily through the BluOS app, available for iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows. For those who prefer traditional remote controls, the 40 Series comes with a newly designed remote that matches the sleek aluminum aesthetic of the components.
Additionally, the 40 ST supports Roon, a popular music management software, as well as AirPlay 2 for seamless streaming from Apple devices. The unit also features coaxial and optical inputs, enabling the connection of other digital audio devices.
Cyrus has built a strong reputation for its CD players, and the 40 CD is a continuation of that legacy. It uses the same ESS Sabre DAC found in the other 40 Series products, ensuring consistency across the system. The player also incorporates a new power supply design that separates the digital and analog circuits to minimize interference and maintain sound quality.
To further enhance performance, the 40 CD player uses nine individual stage regulators, which smooth and distribute power as needed throughout the player’s internal components. The aluminum chassis and full-color TFT display give the unit a polished, modern look.
For those who still enjoy their CD collections, the 40 CD provides an exceptional playback experience with minimal distortion, thanks to its redesigned internal architecture.
One of the distinguishing features of Cyrus products is the option to add an external power supply, and the 40 PSU is designed to complement the 40 Series components. The power supply has an onboard microprocessor that communicates with connected devices to deliver the optimal voltage for each product. This digital control ensures power stability and minimizes noise, improving the overall performance of the system.
The 40 PSU can be connected to any product in the 40 Series and even works with earlier Cyrus models, making it a versatile addition to any existing setup. By providing stable, noise-free power, the 40 PSU allows the connected components to perform at their best, enhancing both digital and analog audio sources.
Cyrus Audio has positioned the 40 Series in the high-end market, with pricing reflecting its advanced design and performance. The components are available at the following prices:
All four products will be available from authorized dealers later this year.
