Cleer Audio recently introduced the ARC3, a pair of true wireless, open-ear earbuds designed to provide enhanced sound and versatile functionality for users who prioritize situational awareness during activities. With a variety of new features—ranging from improved water resistance and voice control to a multifunctional charging case—the Cleer ARC3 earbuds aim to balance performance and convenience in a single, user-friendly design. Priced at $219.99 at Amazon, they are available in black and light pink, with plans for additional colors in early 2025.

The ARC3’s design builds on the foundation of previous Cleer Audio open-ear models, featuring an articulated, spring-loaded earhook that maintains a secure yet comfortable fit. This design allows users to stay aware of their surroundings, making the earbuds suitable for outdoor exercises, such as running and cycling, where environmental awareness is crucial. 

Rated IPX7, the Cleer ARC3 earbuds offer substantial water protection, including full submersion, making them suitable for use in various weather conditions and intense workouts.

Cleer Audio has equipped the ARC3 with several advanced audio technologies to elevate sound quality. One standout feature is Dolby Atmos support with Dolby head tracking, which delivers an immersive 3D sound experience, adjusting dynamically to head movements.

This feature is complemented by a range of high-quality Bluetooth codecs, including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound, aptX Lossless, and LDAC. With LDAC compatibility, the earbuds support a broader range of Android devices, enhancing accessibility for users beyond those with Snapdragon-enabled devices.

The Cleer ARC3 also incorporates Cleer’s dynamic bass enhancement, which reportedly provides improved bass output through the 16.2mm neodymium drivers. Despite the open-ear format, which typically sacrifices bass strength, these enhancements allow for a fuller low-end response than previous Cleer models. 

The earbuds offer a frequency range of 50Hz to 40kHz, emphasizing mid-to-high frequencies more than deep bass tones, aligning well with the needs of users who prefer situational awareness over complete sound isolation.

Battery life on the ARC3 is robust, offering up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge, with the accompanying charging case adding another 40 hours, for a total of 50 hours of listening time. A quick charge feature provides 1.5 hours of playback after only five minutes in the case, making it convenient for users with demanding schedules.

The case itself has evolved into a multifunctional accessory, featuring both an LCD touchscreen and UV-C light sterilization. The touchscreen allows users to access basic controls directly on the case, adding convenience for managing audio playback and settings without needing to interact with a connected device.

The UV-C light provides antibacterial cleaning while the earbuds are stored in the case, a useful feature for users concerned about hygiene. Wireless charging is now supported alongside USB-C charging, offering flexibility for users who prefer cable-free options. Additionally, the case incorporates a mirror within the lid, an unusual but practical touch.

The Cleer ARC3 earbuds run on Bluetooth 5.4 and support multipoint connectivity, enabling simultaneous pairing with two devices. This feature is useful for users who frequently switch between devices, such as a phone and laptop, during their daily routines. Cleer’s Automatic Volume Control (AVC) technology is integrated to adjust audio volume according to ambient noise levels, aiming to optimize sound without requiring manual adjustments.

Head gesture control, another notable feature, uses built-in six-axis sensors to recognize movements, allowing users to handle calls with simple head motions. For users seeking personalization, the Cleer+ app offers a range of options, including EQ adjustments, firmware updates, and even step-tracking, catering to fitness-focused users. Available for both iOS and Android, the app provides a convenient interface for modifying the sound profile, ensuring compatibility with the user’s preferences and activity needs.

Currently, the Cleer ARC3 is available in two color options, black and light pink, on Amazon and other major retailers. Cleer has announced plans to release additional colors in early 2025.
