In a thrilling development for retro gaming enthusiasts, Analogue, the company renowned for its innovative approach to modernizing classic gaming hardware, has set its sights on the iconic Nintendo 64 era. The outcome of their efforts, known as the Analogue 3D, promises to deliver the ultimate Nintendo 64 experience with 4K resolution. While precise details about the console are yet to be unveiled, here is what we know so far.

Analogue 3D is Analogue's ambitious project, set to be launched in 2024. The company is renowned for its contemporary takes on classic consoles such as the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy, and now, they are stepping into the Nintendo 64 territory. The announcement is indeed exciting, given the Nintendo 64's notorious reputation for being challenging to emulate successfully.

According to Analogue, the Analogue 3D aims to provide 100% compatibility with Nintendo 64 cartridges from every region. This includes support for games from the U.S., Europe, and Japan, ensuring a broad range of titles can be enjoyed on the modern system. 

What sets Analogue 3D apart is its use of field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology, which mimics the functionality of the original hardware. This approach ensures an authentic gaming experience, with Analogue boldly claiming "100% compatibility" without resorting to software emulation.

While 4K resolution is one of the primary draws for modern gamers, Analogue is catering to purists as well. Analogue 3D will offer original display modes featuring high-quality recreations of specific CRT (cathode ray tube) TVs and PVM (professional video monitor) models. This will provide gamers with a nostalgic feel, reminiscent of the bygone era when the Nintendo 64 ruled living rooms.

Analogue 3D will also feature modern conveniences, with Bluetooth support and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Previous Analogue consoles and handhelds have been priced in the range of $199.99 to $249.99, providing a reference point for potential buyers.
